    The IAMA’s are taking place Friday 7th September at ;

    The Victory Centre Auditorium, Firhouse, Tallaght, Dublin 24

    The run of events on the night are as follows ;

    6pm – 7pm Meet to greet the stars

    7pm – 10pm The awards

    10pm – 3am The afterparty

    Tickets are priced from 15 euro and can be purchased online here ; http://www.ckstickets.ie/events/viewproperty/ireland-african-music-awards/6

    Tickets can also be purchased at the venue from 17.30 on the day.

    Although only it’s 2nd year, the awards are already gaining a snowball effect moving up in size substantially from its launch last year and aim to continue in their growth in the future. It is also great to see such an awards event in place for the now colossal industry that is urban music in Ireland.

  • Music Locker Sessions with HipHop32 Presents : Costello, G.I & The Elements

    The Music Locker Sessions are back with a top class Irish HipHop Lineup for Tramore. Bringing you three of the best acts straight from Dublin to one stage : Costello, G.I and The Elements.

    HipHop32 are joining forces with the Music Locker Sessions in promoting their Irish HipHop nights and this is the first of those nights. The guys have been organising some great nights of all genres lately and have landed a truly spectacular lineup for the HipHop heads in bringing Irish HipHop veterans The Elements along with two of the Working Class Army, Costello and G.I.

    The Elements have been on the scene here for a while now, since 2002 to be exact and hail from the Blanchardstown area of Dublin. They’re a five piece group that consists of emcee/producers and DJ. Their sound is very unique, a mixture of Jazz, Soul, Funk and R&B that is chopped and finished into unique HipHop. They have played some top gigs including a slot at Oxygen back in 2006. They took a break for a couple of years but came back with a bang this year with the release of their free album Lost Archives 06-08 check the review here http://www.hiphop32.com/the-elements-lost-archives-06-08/

    Costello and G.I were both members of Street Literature along with the late emcee, Lunitic and have both been heavily involved in the scene here over the last few years dropping some of the big tunes from the last twelve months especially. Costello released his debut solo album Illosophical in March of this year, in my opinion one of the best albums of the year. You can check out the review of the first single, Young Apprentice from that album here http://www.hiphop32.com/costello-ft-g-i-young-apprentice/

    G.I is best know for his production and endless dropping of beats for most of the Working Class Army and for the beats delivered for Lethal Dialect’s first two LD50 albums. Not to be disregarded on the mic either, G.I has dropped some phonetical sharpness on verses on tracks too, including Costello’s Young Apprentice(linked above). G.I is also working on a solo album where he will no doubt be showcasing that vocal knowledge and rhyming skill.

    This gig is for over 18′s and is taking place in The Venue, Tramore on Friday August 24th. Admission is the low price of just 7euro and doors open at 10pm.

    There will also be a pre-party taking place from around 8-10.30pm in The Wreck with an as yet to be confirmed DJ spinning some tracks to get the atmosphere building to the main event. I’ll update this post as soon as he/she is booked.

    For any HipHop fans this gig is a must, to get to see such quality of acts and on the same stage is worth getting to…. no matter the effort..!!

  • Music Locker Sessions Presents – Sons Phonetic & Lethal Dialect

    Irish HipHop heavyweights Sons Phonetic and Lethal Dialect are playing Cúil Tra, Tramore this coming Easter weekend.

    Anyone with fractional sonic ability knows who these guys are and what level they deliver. Both acts dropped their debut albums early last year to phenomenal acclaim. Sons Phonetic who are based in Tramore in Waterford, released their classic album Twelve Labours last year. A twelve track album infused with legend, status and survival in the modern world that’s pushed by a soundtrack of heavy and hard hitting, head nodding beats. Check the review here http://www.hiphop32.com/?p=500

    Lethal Dialect from Blanchardstown in Dublin released his debut album LD50 at roughly the same time last year which was a breakthrough in Irish HipHop earning Lethal my personal title of ‘storyteller extreme’ in how he combines intricate gritty urban stories into his clever rhyme schemes while backed by dark deep production from G.I. and Jonnyboy, check the review here http://www.hiphop32.com/?p=265 Lethal Dialect then released his sophomore album LD50 Pt2 in January just gone, another classic Irish HipHop album. Proving to any who might have doubted his level from the 1st installment that he is a relevant heavyweight on the Irish scene. You can check the review to the first single from his sophomore album, Keep It Real here http://www.hiphop32.com/?p=311

    This gig is being brought to us by a relatively new promotions collective, Music Locker Sessions. It began as a Facebook group for friends sharing new music and also to find out what others were listening to. This soon expanded to such a size that it became subdivided by genre and eventually the original members decided to do something about all the great music being discovered…. and the Music Locker Sessions was born. Nineteen of the original members are now involved in every aspect of running these music nights. With their fingers solidly on the pulse of relevant and breaking music, they have grasped the wide span of genre’s and given birth to nights that suit all tastes and this coming weekend they have grasped two of the best names in HipHop….. Sons Phonetic & Lethal Dialect.

    These are in my opinion two of the best acts on the Irish HipHop scene and having seen performances from both I can personally guarantee top level performances and a night of great sounding tracks layered with glistening, scalpel sharp lyrics. An absolute must for HipHop and music fans alike.

    Music Locker Sessions presents Sons Phonetic and Lethal Dialect this Saturday 7th April at Cúil Tra, Tramore. This is an over 18′s event and admission is the small fee of 5 euro per head.
