The annual Make a Move Festival is kicking off this weekend across Limerick City with music, dance and art events running from the 25th to the 28th July.
Dizzy Daz is back with this nice, tightly barred track O.C. (Originality Correct). Produced by Alan Newman this one has a nice Jazzy horn sample holding the lightly hit drum hits as Dizzy delivers paced but tight content to complete the gel.
This coming Saturday sees the first of many to come Bloodshed Promotions club/competition nights, beginning with a competition to decide who gets to support legendary HipHop group Bone Thugs N Harmony when they come to Ireland - another Bloodshed Promotions event. The event is taking place at The Voodoo Lounge, 9-40 Arran Quay, Dublin 7. Beginning at 8pm sharp the night will be ran and judged by a voting system that all comes down to the public and voting cards will be issued on arrival.
The Irish HipHop scene has a contender in the Arthur Guinness Projects with Bloodshed Promotions and we need ye out there to log in and vote !! Why ??? Well we're all only too familiar with how the scene is here and how we do it all ourselves and lets not forget the complaints on how this guy or that girl or this group never gets a chance or a shot. Well with ye'r votes we can change that !!! Bloodshed Promotions wants to kick into effect real opportunities for the Irish scene by
With the Sons Phonetic crew tieing us over with solo EP's from all 5 emcees in the group, Sammy Dozens was first to drop with his EP Lucid Dream and what a way to begin the takeover once again of Irish HipHop. Lucid Dream is a 5 track EP featuring the single Ready For War but don't let that fool you into thinking the rest are fillers. 5 tracks of lush, rich HipHop with Sammy lacing the poetry to production from Mook, Danny Diggs and Sammy himself.
Skin T has just released his first solo EP Mastermind and its up for download with an optional donation to download. For his first release it definitely shows potential but the production on it is of top quality. I'm sure with some more dedication his flow will tighten and I look forward to hearing some future releases. You can download Mastermind EP here http://skin1.bandcamp.com/
Here's the first solo single Mastermind from Dublin native Skin T. Production is nice and I feel that giving some more time, if this guys flow solidifies, he could be dropping some bangers.
Here's Put Ur L's Up, the latest release from G.I & Costellos's collaboration album MaryJane. A tribute to the late Street Literature pioneer Lunitic. Nice track from the lads with great delivery from both emcees. Production by G.I and visuals from Tara Morgan.
Lethal Dialect's debut album LD50 was released back in 2010 and it really blew my mind for the level it was at. I knew it was going to set a bar, artists would have to up their game to compete in the scene here after this one. No one else had delved so deep and planned into the murk of dark sub-social story telling nor done so with such intelligently crafted precision, a true stepping stone for the scene. You can download LD50 for free here http://lethaldialect.bandcamp.com/album/ld50
Costello's debut solo album Illosophical dropped in March of last year and is definitely one of the best HipHop albums to have come out of the country in my opinion. I feel it should have gotten a lot more attention for the body of work that it is. Costello's rhymes are intricate and thought provoking and his flow is snappy yet smooth on all tracks. An album that sits just as comfortably audibly at 3am or in the middle of the day.
