Andy Duff recently posted a video of himself performing his latest track, With Music We Make Miracles.

Andy Duff is a young singer/guitarist/songwriter from Lucan in Dublin and you might ask...Why I am covering this guy on an Irish HipHop blog? Well that's because he has been featured on a few tracks here from some of the countries main movers and is getting a lot of attention on the Irish Urban scene for his deep felt lyrics and delivery of them.

Row-B, while in fifth year of secondary school. Robbie recruited him as the singer for the band Safe Destination that he was putting together. The band gigged around Dublin for a couple of years and developed a good name for themselves. Eventually the members parted ways and started pursuing their own individual paths.

Andy has done a few tracks with his old friend Row-B, and tracks with West Knyle Ambers, a Detroit emcee, also with J-G, a rapper from Scunthorpe and most notably he collaborated with A.W.O.L.(Row-B & Rap-Thor) on their track Never Go Back, which was featured by Dave Treacy for his Mic Check on his We Love Beats show on RTE Pulse. The track also won the Lyrical Genius competition with Rappers Comp.

This track is just a home recording via video camera by Andy himself, so the sound quality isn't the best but that doesn't mask the power and emotion delivered on the track. It starts with a mellow, slow plucked guitar progression before his husky voice starts, delivering quick filled lines that he paces with strong down strums and soft plucks to match the harshness of his vocal, giving emphasis to the emotion of his lyrics. He delivers lines that capture the deepness of his passion

no there's nothing more meant to be

than notes arranged in melody,

so let it echo through this symphony

and turn headphones into monasteries. He clearly has a great connection with the music as his vocal raises and lowers in unison with his guitar playing, like connected on some other plane. His lyrics and their individual emotions are transported direct, without a loss of quality from his mind straight to the listeners. The chorus on the track holds it all with an uplifting, uptempo strum as he confesses to the hold he has on his listener, almost regrettably but yet without relinquishing[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_large","fid":"248","attributes":{"class":"media-image alignright size-medium wp-image-242","typeof":"foaf:Image","style":"","width":"300","height":"225","title":"312348_262620213756025_100000241457834_1035507_160056_n","alt":""}}]] You can't tell what you see when your wrapped in my words.

and your feet start wandering steadily closer to the curb.

then you stop...still under my spell, i'll break this curse if you want me to.

..but i don't want to. The thing that stands out the most for me on this track is the way he manages to channel the emotion of the song directly to the listener, it's a quality that a good producer would dream of getting on a track and he seems to deliver it like a character trait. Add to that his songwriting skills and strong vocal and a complete positive result is the outcome. At the moment Andy Duff is in a group with Mikey Doyle a.k.a. Dubkid called Submajik, a kind of Drum & Bass/Dubstep group with Andy on Vocals, they have a few tracks ready but just need to get into the studio and lay them down. He is still writing and recording his own solo stuff and is being sought out for collaborations by plenty of people here at home. Expect more on this guy...soon.[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_large","fid":"113","attributes":{"class":"media-image","typeof":"foaf:Image","height":"350","width":"425","style":""}}]]
